Colonel Santosh Babu, the Commanding Officer who lost his life during Operation Snow Leopard in Galwan Valley in Ladakh, was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra.

The Maha Vir Chakra is the second-highest gallantry award.

The brave soldiers were awarded gallantry medals at the Defense Decoration Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
President Ram Nath Kovind awarded gallantry medals to the soldiers who got martyrdom in the violence of Galwan Valley. During this, Colonel Santosh Babu, who lost his life during Operation Snow Leopard in Galwan Valley in Ladakh, was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra. President Ram Nath Kovind presented the award to his mother and wife.
Five others were awarded the Vir Chakra.
