16th National Science Exhibition organized in Bengaluru

In this exhibition, the star attraction was Subham Parmar, a student of Class VIII, of the Vidya Bharati Saraswati Sishu Mandir of village Babalya in Madhya Pradesh. Subham has the unique caliber of remembering tables up to 251. He performed this feat in the closing ceremony. Further, he has the capability of reciting the tables in reverse order too. For the last 15 years, Vidya Bharati has been organizing science exhibitions from the school level to national level. These exhibitions are organized at six levels, starting from the school level to district, commissionary, state, zonal and finally the national level.

In these exhibitions besides the exhibitions of models assembly, projects on a scientific solution to social issues, experiments there are presentations on research papers and quiz competitions.

For the year 2017, the national level exhibition was held at Bengaluru from 13th to 16th December.

Objectives

  • Exposing and encouraging scientific talent in our children.
  • Making children realise the relevance of science to society, as well as their responsibilities as scientists of tomorrow.
  • Developing creative thinking, a habit of exploration, and promoting manipulative skills among children through self-devised models or simple apparatus.
  • Stimulating interest in science and inculcating scientific spirit in the younger generation.
  • Encouraging the problem-solving approach and the development of the appropriate technology, especially for rural areas and integrating scientific ideas related to daily life situations.
  • Inculcating an aesthetic sense and team spirit among the participants.
  • Popularising science among the masses and creating an awareness of the role of science in the socio-economic growth of the country.
  • Developing appropriate techniques for communication of science.
  • Developing awareness about our glorious cultural heritage of these subjects i.e. Samskriti, Vaidic Ganit, and Science.
