Techathon-2025 at IIT Delhi Showcases Innovation, Research Exposure and Community Engagement
New Delhi, November 21:Techathon-2025, a four-day national innovation program jointly organized by Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), IIT Delhi , in collaboration with AICTE and NITI Aayog , concluded today at IIT Delhi, marking a successful celebration of creativity, social responsibility, and technological innovation.
The event was inaugurated on 18 November in the esteemed presence of Prof. T. G. Sitharam (Chairman, AICTE), Prof. V. K. Vijay (National Coordinator, UBA), Sh. Suman Pandit (ATL Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog), Dr. Ramakrishna Rao (Vice Chairman, Vidya Bharati), Sh. Desraj Sharma (General Secretary, Vidya Bharati), and Sh. Govind Chandra Mahant (Sangathan Mantri, Vidya Bharati).
Over the first two days, students participated in the Grand Project Exhibition, where 100 student models were showcased across themes such as Waste Management, Health & AI, Defense Technologies, Education Technology, and 3D Infrastructure. Parallel to the exhibition, participants were taken for laboratory visits to IIT Delhi’s cutting-edge research facilities, where they interacted with faculty and explored live demonstrations in robotics, sensors, biomedical engineering, and design labs.
A key component of Techathon-2025 was the community outreach initiative under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. Students visited Seva Basti areas including Kanak Durga Basti and Ambedkar Basti, identifying ground-level problems and proposing technological solutions such as smart dustbins, water-logging sensors, and digital learning interventions.
Students later presented their observations and solutions through PPT-based experience sharing sessions, which were reviewed by IIT Delhi faculty and mentors.The valedictory ceremony was graced by Sh. Deepak Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, who encouraged students to evolve from “problem solvers to service generators.” Expert lectures on Design Thinking, Assistive Technologies, Startups, and Entrepreneurship were delivered by leading IIT Delhi faculty including Prof. P. V. M. Rao, Dr. Piyush Chanana, Dr. Sumer Singh, and Dr. Seema Sharma.
Awards were presented to outstanding projects:
* 10 students received First Prize, a trophy, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹10,000.
* 10 students received Second Prize, a trophy, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹5,000.
All remaining participants received trophies and certificates of participation.Senior dignitaries including Sh. Raghunandan, Sh. Govind Chandra Mahant, Sh. Desraj Sharma, Prof. V. K. Vijay, Sh. Krishna Kumar Sinha, Sh. Shubham Gupta (ATL Innovation Mission), Prof. B. K. Panigrahi, and Dr. Akhilesh Mishra (Chairman, NIOS) also graced the occasion with their presence.
Sh. Nitin Choubey, Akhil Bharatiya ATL Sanyojak, presented the formal report of Tecathon-2025 and Mr.Shubham from Atal Innovation mission highlighted the nationwide expansion of ATL labs, now reaching nearly 10,000 schools . He proposed preparing a Coffee Table Book of all 100 projects to document student innovations at the national level.
The event concluded with the unveiling of the Techathon-2026 poster and an enthusiastic rendition of Vande Mataram.
